Farida Temraz, the Egyptian-Canadian fashion designer and owner of the international brand, Temraza Haute Couture, has proven that there is nothing hard work can’t do, becoming an international fashion icon. Freesia sat down with the young designer to talk about everything from her mind-blowing success to her upcoming events.

Farida started her career in fashion at just the age of 19. Since then, Farida has blown everyone away becoming the first Egyptian to win Best Female Couture Designer in NYFW 2017. Farida says that the real start of all of this success was when she became the first Egyptian designer to participate in London Fashion Week in 2013 which she says was: “a leap in the fashion industry in Egypt and in the Middle East since I was the only Egyptian designer to get there and the youngest designer at the time.” It has also led her to be the first Egyptian to win the first place award at Paris Fashion Week in 2014; an experience she calls “exhilarating.”

With all of these accomplishments, Farida has quickly started to represent Egypt internationally. Just recently, her brand participated in the 2018 NYFW as the representative of Egypt. She has also dressed multiple celebrities in the Oscars, EMMYs, and Grammys. She considers these accomplishments “a good representation of the country.”

Despite all of her achievements, Farida still remains pretty humble. When asked if she expects to gain the recognition she gets, she said: “I only focus on achieving my never ending dreams as I am a hard working person who never stops dreaming and aiming high. When I achieve a goal, I am always ready and excited for the one that follows. I dedicate all my success to my very hard working team.” 

Farida’s passion seems to only be work. Not only does she love to work hard herself, she also loves people who love to work. She says: “It would be an honor if any person in any field who likes work as much as I do wears Temraza.” She even made 2 collections last year to empower strong women who are successful at both their work and home by offering practical, good-looking designs.

Not like we’re expecting her to, Farida is not planning on slowing down. When we asked about her upcoming events, she said: “We’re doing a fashion show in Beirut, ‘The Designers & Brands Fashion Show,’ with the tycoons of the industry in the Middle East and North Africa. We’re also introducing a collection that highlights the Egyptian heritage.” 

All things considered, Farida is probably just the perfect role model for young people in all fields. With the kind of success she’s reached at such a young age, we had to ask her if she has any advice for young designers. She says: “It’s so important that they never give up, keep dreaming, and dream big.”
